What kind of ECE knowledge is used in this project?
For now, the project is mainly developed with CS knowledge to develop the web application, manage database and data analysis. But since we would like to have a whole system of used-item circulation with not only the online platform, the ECE knowledge will be applied to the item management in physical storage in the next semester.
How does the knowledge help you to reach your goal?
To cut down labor and shorten the processing time when collecting the used-items, we are considering to have a portable device to support the efficient and convenient workflow. Moreover, to better monitor the condition of stored items and locate the particular item in the storage quickly, a smart system should be designed. These are the aspect that ECE knowledge can help with.
What is the most challenging part/problem of this project?
As a project that aims to launch on campus with real users, I think the most challenging part is to stand in the users’ shoes when designing the system, not only the students who might participate in the item give and take, but also people who will maintain the system to make it work for a long time. We are not experienced in this part, so a lot of time was spent on discussing how to make the system easier to access for customers and easier to maintain with less labor input.
I will pay more attention to the poster making next time. Thanks for your valuable comment!
