Eligibility

Final Year Project (FYP)

Final Year Project (FYP) is a required course for students in the program of BEng(ELEC) and BEng & BBA (EEGBM). 

To be eligible for taking FYP, students must have completed at least three out of four 2000 level courses + one 3000 level course, and demonstrate capability and basic background knowledge for the project. Year 3 students who have not taken FYP/FYT before should start your project in Summer 2020-21. For EEGBM program, Year 3/4 students who have not taken FYP/FYT before should start your FYP/FYT in Summer 2020-21 as well.

Final Year Thesis (FYT)

This option is for students who would like to pursue PG research studies.

Students who opt for Research Option should take the Final Year Thesis (FYT). Other students with strong research interest should discuss with the faculty member who has posted a FYT proposal.

Requirement for Early-Taking FYP/FYT

FYP/FYT are intended for students in the 3rd year and 4th year as of Spring for ELEC/CPEG and EEGBM respectively, i.e., those who are expected to graduate in 2022.

Other students who wish to start FYP/FYT early should seek approval from FYP Coordinator. You should present the following information for consideration:

  • Unofficial transcript
  • Study plan
  • Reason to start FYP/FYT early
  • Intended project
  • Supervisor's endorsement (if he/she has agreed to accepted you)

After endorsement is sought, please send your request to Prof. Levent Yobas (FYP Coordinator) (eelyobas@ust.hk)for final approval and c.c. Jun (eejunli@ust.hk).

Student of Non-ECE/CPEG Major

Students of other major who are interested to join ECE FYP/FYT should also seek approval from FYP Coordinator. You should present the following information for consideration:

  • Unofficial transcript
  • Study plan
  • Reason to start FYP/FYT early
  • Intended project
  • Supervisor's endorsement (if he/she has agreed to accepted you)

**Before joining ECE FYP, student is strongly advised to consult with your home dept to ensure the credit earned is relevent to fulfilling the graduation requirement.
